IBM Buys Sterling Commerce

IBM announced this morning that it has agreed to purchase Sterling Commerce from AT&T for $1.4 billion cash. This deal is among one of the highest deals in recent history.
Sterling Commerce is a company that provides B2B solutions to thousands of customers worldwide.
Their solutions help customers optimize their business networks to reduce costs and accelerate revenue.
With the acquisition of Sterling, IBM now has a presence in the B2B market with clients in a wide array of industries.
Sterling has about 2500 employees and will be placed into IBM's WebSphere Unit. The sale should be finalized sometime by the end of 2010.
