A search and rescue has begun for 16 year old American Abby Sunderland. Sunderland was trying to become the youngest person to sail around the world by herself. She ran into trouble Thursday when she sailed into a storm in the Indian Ocean where she lost contact with family and an emergency locating beacon was activated that sent an alert to the Coast Guard.
Her family believes that she is still alive because the beacon that is activated in 15 feet of salt water has not been activated.
