Barefoot Bandit Arrested

News broke today from the Bahamas that nineteen-year-old Colton Harris Moore, also known as the Barefoot Bandit, has been arrested after two years on the run.
His arrest came after he was recognized by witnesses who then called the police on the Bahama island of Eleuthera.  Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade said that a high speed boat chased followed where Colton Harris Moore threw a handgun overboard.  He was taken into custody without incident when police shot out his engine.

The Washington state teenager became a folk hero to some since breaking out of a Washington state juvenile halfway house in 2008  after pleading guilty to three counts of burglary.  Since then he is accused of breaking in and burglarizing dozens of homes in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia.

The Barefoot Bandit is also accused of stealing five planes including one in Indiana that he crash landed in the Bahamas earlier this week.  All of the plane thefts came with no formal flight training, he taught himself by reading flight manuals.

Colton Harris Moore was nicknamed the Barefoot Bandit because he took off his shoes when he would break into houses.  Some homes he broke into had white powder footprints on the floor.

Harris Moore was flown to Nassau where he will face seven burglary charges before he is extradited to the United States.
