Breaking News...North Korea threatened the United States and South Korea with a "physical response" to a planned massive military drill planned Sunday. The was plan was developed when news broke of the sinking of a South Korean warship by North Korea.
North Korean run KCNA news agency reported North Korea "will legitimately counter with [its] powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the South Korean puppet forces,"
The joint drill is nicknamed Invincible Spirit, which is scheduled to begin Sunday and conclude Wednesday. The exercise will consist of 8,000 joint military personnel, 200 aircraft and 20 ships and submarines.
Invincible Spirit is to take place in the Sea of Japan on South Korea's east coast and the Yellow Sea on the west coast, according to a joint U.S. and South Korean statement.
North Korea spokesman Ri Tong Il described the planned U.S.-South Korea joint military exercise as "another example of a hostile policy" against North Korea.
He said the exercise is a threat to North Korea's sovereignty and security.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton believes there is a peaceful resolution to this situation if North Korea changes it attitude.
